Exploits, advances and challenges benefiting beyond Li-ion battery technologies

This review-study adresses some of the relevant post-Li ion issues and battery technologies, including Na-ion batteries, Mg batteries, Ca-ion batteries, Zn-ion batteries, Al-ion batteries and anionic (F- and Cl-) shuttle batteries. It iscusses the scientific challenges of the most relevant battery technologies, and how this will affect our perception of future batteries according to the specificity of the application.
